Busy Weekend

We had quite the busy weekend. Saturday we went to the Cub Scout District races. Unfortunately the boys didn't bring home any trophies, but we had a good time. They had fun racing their boats and cars. Dorsan was in the next to the last bracket when he was eliminated. MU had their racing team there with their go carts and the kids were able to climb in them to have their pictures taken. On Sunday Boonville was having their community trash pick up day. The Cub Scouts came out to help and we picked up at least a mile of roadway and hauled of 272 pounds of trash. Some of the weight may have come from the skid plate we found. Yesterday 3rd-8th grade went on a field trip to KC Zoo as a reward for their hard work during MAP testing. I took the day off so I could go with Dorsan. I was able to sign him out so we could wander around at our own pace. We had some friends with us and had a great time. Dorsan loved watching Nakita the Polar Bear swim around. I think his favorite part was the Meerkats. They are kind of cute. I let him use my camera so the majority of the pics he took himself. He did a pretty good job. Will have to see how much he likes it and keep him interested. I did get a good picture of this Kangaroo that hopped out on the path about 20 to 30 feet in front of us. I think that was my favorite part. I didn't know that some of the animals roamed freely in the park. He really loved being able to take the pictures. It was a great mom and Dorsan day. Luckily this next weekend is an easy one for us. Only have to worry about Easter.

Today I am awesome. Our day started at 6:00am so we could get ready for the Rocket/Boat Races with Scouts. We got out the door and to the school in time to help set up at 8:00am. We didn't leave until about 3:00pm. As soon as I got home I started emailing info. and photos so we can get it into the local paper, and then started downloading and saving photos to FB and on cd, and now I am updating the blog. So I am bragging on myself today, and my awesome boys and how well they did. Dorsan was not to keen on making his boat and rocket, so he took the quickest way to get done. Hint that is why his rocket is just green. Although he didn't want to work on them that much he did pretty well. He placed 2nd for speed and 1st for design within his den for his boat. He worked really hard on blowing his boat down the gutter and did very well. He didn't place at all for his rocket. It was comical though because they would release the rockets and I don't think his ever made it past 15ft. Do not know what went wrong there.

Corbin is our little artist and perfectionist. Luckily we did not have that same issues as we did with his car. He was happy with his painting so no touch ups needed. He comes up with some creative ideas. Most 7yr olds would not come up with the idea to make his boat look like a squid. That is what he wanted so we went with it and it turned out well. He placed 1st for speed and design in his den,and 2nd overall for speed out of the whole troop. I am glad he likes to come up with this stuff. I just hope he is still doing it as he gets older. I notice dorsan is not as big on coming up with the outside the box stuff, and that is ok by me. Sometimes easier to do when making this stuff. Corbin wanted his rocket to look like a soda can, so we tried to make it look like a coke can. There were only 2 entries for his den in the rockets. He took 2nd for design and 1st for speed in his den. He took 1st for speed overall in the troop. He did almost of the work on his rocket himself. He did quite a bit of sanding to get it that way and it paid off. Unfortunately scouts is no longer racing the rockets at districts otherwise I think he would have done pretty well. When they called him for his 2nd trophy he jumped up and did this fist punch. Wish I had the camera with me to get it. Unfortunately I was helping out and Scott had the camera. Go boys!!!!

Snow Fun

So we have been getting more snow than usual. Yesterday we got 19 inches of snow and were under blizzard conditions. Went out this morning to check out how deep it is. It came up to my calfs and I still wasn't all the way to the ground. The boys haven't been out today yet so no pictures of them today. Here are some pics from today and from the last storm. Enjoy. The one with the handle bars sticking out is Corbin's tricycle that he left in the yard.
