The Little Graduate

I am actually getting in more than one post in 3 months. Hey I might even be able to keep it up. Today was the last day of school for the boys. We had Kindergarten graduation last night and it was awesome. The Kindergarten Graduates didn't have to go to school today. Corbin loved it. Corbin looked so cute in his cap and gown. He did look a bit bored. They had a fun day at school so i think he was tired. I was having camera issues. i believe operator error so luckily we had the video camera and it conked out about 1/2 way through. I didn't think to charge it until a few hours before. That must tell you how often we use it. Luckily by the time it died I managed to get my camera skills under control and get some good shots. Corbin brought home a couple of awards. He got the Good Thinking award for Math and Bright Idea award for creative writing. I talked to his teacher today and she said that he got that award because he always came up with a different story during journal time. I read his journal and sure enough he doesn't repeat one story and they are soooo cute. Definitely keeping that for him to look at when he is older. He also lost his first tooth last week. It was very dramatic how it happened. He lost it during music eating a lollipop. It made it back to the classroom and the teacher made a cute pocket for it, but forgot to send home on Monday. Corbin was ok with it when i explained to him that the tooth fairy would wait for it to make it home before she could get his tooth. It came home the next day and he had write a story to the the tooth fairy. He made his own pocket for it as well. His story went like this. I lost my tooth on Monday. I lost my tooth at school. It was the first baby tooth I lost. He only misspelled baby. Very Proud parents. Now onto Dorsan(again very proud parents. He received the award today for Most Improved Writer. It has been great to see his writing come home and to see how much he has improved just over this year. He has never really liked writing and to see the effort he put in for this year has been amazing. He wrote this really neat story about him, his dad, the beebee gun and a snake. He also wrote a book about a go cart. It was really cool. I owe that to his totally awesome teacher. We got really Just wish she could move up the grades with him. Dorsan has never shown such an interest in reading and writing and wanting to do better in school. His math improved greatly as well. It has been a blessing for us that he had just a dedicated teacher that made him want to do his best. We did have a bump in the road with a sub while his teacher was on maternity leave, but all turned out really well. I decided to get his teacher a gift and it wound up turning into a class gift. Ladies I have not scrapbooked in sometime and it was left up to me to get the gift together so I will attach the photo of the page I made for her. I think it turned out very well for a rusty old scrapbooker that needs to get back into it. I also found this cute fruit basket that was painted black with sunflowers and a birdhouse that says "Welcome Friends" above it. My friend's mom owns the store i got it at. I love that store i wish i could spend my whole paycheck there. She builds furniture and cabinets. I will try to get a photo of it and post it. Well your eyes are probably drooping from all this reading so i will wrap it up. I am going to try to attach the video of Corbin singing at graduation, but we will see.

Here we are again

So I just finished typing everything and then had an error on the page and it didn't save. So here I go again. The boys are doing great and getting bigger than ever. Corbin was sick the day before his birthday party, so unfortunately he didn't get one this year. He is almost 4ft tall now. He has his 1st loose tooth. It should fall out one day soon. They had a blast painting easter eggs. We had 3 easter egg hunts this year so they pulled in quite a bit of loot. They are both enjoying school and Dorsan is doing alot better with his grades. He is almost 5ft tall now. Soon he will be bigger than me. Their spring concert was a reinactment of Tom Sawyer. They both did really well. Corbin, my ham, stood in the middle of the stage and waved at me when his part was done. Of course I had already turned off my camera! They always seem to do the funny stuff when you're done taking pics. Work is going well. Almost done my last day is May 21st. My contract was renewed and i renewed it, but i am going to try looking for something that pays better. We would like to get started on the house again and be able to go on vacation so it looks like I will be hitting the streets this summer looking, and if I don't find something then i do have a job lined up for the fall. Scott is still working for the City and still looking to move up within the City. Hope that happens soon and he gets a day shift. He worked the day shift for a couple of days one week and we loved having him home in the evenings. I had better get some pics posted and get on with the day. Happy Mothers Day!

How the time flies!

I knew I was running behind on updating the blog, but really thought I had gotten some christmas picks on here. Guess that shows how with it I have been. So now I have a few months to catch up on. I went to Grandma and Grandpa's 65th wedding anniversary the beginning of Dec. so will throw in some pics from that. We had a really good Christmas with dad and the fam down to visit. My 1st time baking a ham turned out really good and I am still pulling some of it from the freezer. Takes a whole new meaning to left overs. We have had 5 snow days now and will see what tomorrow brings. I am not used to having it snow and having the day off work. My house has stayed pretty clean this winter. The kids are doing well and we finally had just the right kind of snow to build a snowman. Dorsan has named him Fred. I forgot how much work goes into building a snowman. I don't think my arms have had that good of a workout in a bit. Both boys are really enjoying school. Well I had better post picks so I can work on dinner and the boys can take over the computer for a bit.

Halloween

Here are the photos from Halloween. The kids had a blast. We picked up Noah and headed out for the evening. We started out at the YMCA for a carnival. The kids had fun, but was definitely for the younger crowd. We left before the costume contest and headed out to beat the streets. We went through Holiday hills subdivision and they had some really cool yard displays. I should have taken pics. Corbin was the Grim Reaper this year and even had the scary voice to go with it. I think he is going to be able to imitate voices like Scott does. Both boys love to sing so I hope one of them gets the hern voice and can sing really well. Dorsan decided to be a scarecrow this year. It was fun putting together his outfit and i have to say I did a pretty good job on it. Scott did the makeup so that is why it looks so good. We took the boys to a haunted forest that a friend of ours put on so it wasn't scary to us, but the chainsaw guy did scare the crap out of the kids.

update from us

Ok so it has been quite awhile since I have updated the blog. We have been busy with swimming lessons, scouts, and soccer. I finally have a day that I work on this. Since I have not figured out how to the right pictures with the right story I am going to post a couple of different blogs. I need to be more computer literate. Give me a spreadsheet any day and I can figure it out. It doesn't help that our computer is having issues and I am using the laptop. We will start with soccer as i have been a bad mom and do not have any photos of swimming lessons. I am taking my camera this week so i get pics of Corbin swimming to the deep end of the pool and diving in. He has come so far. So here we go with soccer. Dorsan really enjoys playing soccer. He is getting better at it, but still has a ways to go. We got so much rain in October and it rained almost every thursday which was practice day so his team didn't get to practice much. He enjoys playing goalie. Especially since he figured out he can stop the ball with his hands and by landing on it. He still needs to work on his footwork, and nobody on his team is really aggressive with the other players. They would kick the ball and than stand back to see where it went instead of getting in there to get it. It was fun to watch and some days we just shook our heads. We won one game by default, but he had so much fun playing.

1st day of school

Dorsan and Corbin posing for mom
Corbin running for the bus.
Corbin getting on the bus.

Corbin started Kindergarten today. It is hard to believe how fast the time flies. It was very comical this morning. I went in and woke the kids up before I started to get ready thinking that because they slept in all summer I would have trouble getting them up. They woke right up and jumped out of bed and were waiting on me. They had gotten dressed and were watching cartoons by the time I was finished getting ready. We got to grandma and grandpa hern's house where they catch the bus about 5 minutes before the bus so not alot of time for photos. The kids had just put down their book bags and turned on the T.V. when we see the bus coming down the road. Corbin was so excited that he started running for the bus. We were trying to yell at him and tell him to hold on for pictures. Luckily with the small community the bus drivers understand the wanting of photos the 1st day. We finally got Corbin stopped long enough to get his mugshot and then he was ready to sit down on the bus forgetting all about giving kisses to mom and dad. We had to finagle those and then he was off like a shot again. We even had to tell Dorsan to stop so we could get his mugshot as well. He came home very excited about his 1st day of school. What he remembers most (because it is the most important part of his day) is that if he gets in trouble and loses his apples then he loses his recess. They had a busy day and thinking of how busy their day was you would think they would go right to bed right. Well I am having a time getting them to sleep tonight. I know I'm beat after my day at school. I never understood why I heard teachers talking about going to sleep at about 8 o'clock and now I know. I come home and am tired. Of course that may have something to do with my new schedule and the fact that I don't get to sleep in anymore. We already have the 1st birthday invitation of the year, so it looks like it will be a busy one. Until next time

better late than never

As we can see even being home this summer I have not done well keeping the blog updated. We went camping in July, but I do not have many pictures as I would not take my camera out on the boat for fear that I would drop it in the lake, and I forgot to buy a waterproof one I could take. Would have been great to get photos of Corbin napping during the boat ride. We have just be lazing around the house so not many pics there. I have a few of camping and a few of the cub scouts swim party, so here they are. I started working last week and tomorrow is the 1st day of school where i work so who knows when i will get it updated again. Hopefully this weekend since the boys start school wednesday. I just hope Scott remembers to take the camera so he can get pics of them getting on the bus. Hard to believe Corbin is in Kindergarten already.
